Crowning, Bonding, & Recontouring

Sometimes a combination approach is necessary.

Before: This young professional lost his center front tooth while playing hockey as an adolescent. The old crown (drawing) is the wrong color and the teeth to the right of this crown are the wrong shape.

After: The crown was replaced. Bonding (attaching a white filling material to the outside of a tooth to change its shape or color) was used to close the space in the center. Recontouring was used to reshape the tooth to the right of the center tooth on the right side to make it look more natural.
